These spunky birds can be hard to spot! I usually happen across roadrunners accidentally, when I turn a corner while hiking. The only time I’ve actually seen one running on a road, it was in the Clarksville neighborhood in Austin, quickly darting across Lamar Blvd!
The bird that inspired this painting was hanging out near a hiking trail at McKinney Falls State Park in Austin. It was hunting grasshoppers and stayed still just long enough for me to snap a photo.
