In the late spring, I went camping at Caprock Canyons with a couple friends. We drove through the red, sandy hills, surrounded by cacti and other desert plants. We could see the outlines of the canyon along the horizon. Everything was alive and in bloom. When we pulled into our campsite, I was blown away by the prickly pear cacti that surrounded us. Each plant was covered with more flowers than I could have ever imagined and they were all in full bloom! The flowers only last for a day and I watched them change from a bright-yellow to a peachy-orange as the sun set. How spectacular!
